Chocolate Milk Clicker is Out Now

Hello there! This is my second attempt at writing this DevLog. Despite spending a lot of time playing and talking about video games, it's a first for me to be on this side of the fence. I want to start by thanking everyone who has played the game. I have been wanting to make a game (however small) for a long time but coding didn't come easy to me. No matter how many YouTube tutorials I watched. That's where Scratch comes in. It's a high-level block-based visual programming language and website aimed primarily at children and that's exactly what helped me understand it.

Before going any further, I want to thank LazyRock3t for the Bee Simulator base code. Taking apart and understanding that code was immensely helpful to me in making Chocolate Milk Clicker. To celebrate the release of the game, I wanted to share a few things about it.

For starters, why chocolate milk? My friends and I often stream to Twitch on a channel called Chumbag HQ and long-time viewers will know our fondness for the delicious flavored milk. In fact, I made this game for them. I hope that everyone finds it functional and enjoyable at a base level, but the game, as small as it is, is filled with little nods to the community.

Now let's talk about the status of the game. The game soft-launched last night so I could test some things out and get feedback. The two hundred people who played since then are the real MVPs and a special shoutout to people who sent me screenshots of your high coin counts. (We'll talk more about that in a bit.) The big problem for early players was the audio. This kept cutting off abruptly at a point. After much troubleshooting, I have fixed this issue. A number of smaller changes were also made.

Lastly, the screenshots. What better way to celebrate a game than by giving more games away? That is, after all, the reason I made the game in the first place. We have a few Steam codes to give away. Keep in mind that these aren't the latest AAA releases. But with games like Layers of Fear, Dirt3: Complete Edition, and Lacuna up for grabs, the lineup is pretty nice. So, how do you win? Just play Chocolate Milk Clicker and send in a screenshot of your high coin count. The top players will get the first pick in the prize pool.

Warning: Based on screenshots I've already gotten 3 billion is the minimum coin count for entry!

That's it for this post. I won't promise any regular updates (I've already broken that promise on GoodReads and I won't do it again) but I can say more is on the way. I am eagerly plotting out my next game and seeing how I can push myself. I am not sure how much this actually means, but thank you for getting Chocolate Milk Clicker to the top 10 games in New & Popular games on this site. Your support has really motivated me.
